Starting a side hustle or your own small business is exciting! Not only can you see your ideas come to life, but you are also able to focus and work on something that you’re passionate about and interested in. And hopefully, you are making extra money from it, too.
There are lots of reasons to start your own small business, whether it’s something you do instead of having a traditional full-time job or is something you do to make extra money on the side in your spare time.
Maybe you feel like you’re in a bit of a rut with your career and want something to bring more fulfillment and meaning to your life.
Or you have a great small business idea that you want to try on a smaller scale before leaping into full-time entrepreneurship.
Maybe the 9-5 lifestyle isn’t for you and you want more flexibility and control over your own schedule.
Or maybe your financial situation isn’t so great and you need to earn money right now, any way you can.
Whatever your motivation is, you’ve decided that it’s time to launch your very own business or side hustle.
But now what? How do you get started?!?
What idea is the best one to pursue? Will it be successful and lucrative? How do you get clients? How do you get your business to grow? What laws apply? How do you handle the finances and accounting?
It can all be very overwhelming.
And unfortunately, a lot of the advice out there about side hustles can also be quite misleading. They are selling the “get-rich-quick” dream and not the reality. Sure, it is possible to make six-figures a year from your side hustle. But most of us won’t ever achieve that amount.
Making an extra $1,000 a month, however, is much more attainable and realistic.
Which is exactly what the Launch Your Side Hustle course focuses on. It walks you through the steps needed to get you your first $1,000. And then shows you how to keep making extra money as your business grows!
Why I Took the Launch Your Side Hustle Course
Daniella, the course creator, is a side hustle queen! She made $30,000 last year from side hustling and runs a whole website, I Like to Dabble, focused on ways to start your own side hustle and earn extra money.
My side hustle (which is running “My Life, I Guess” and related freelance writing gigs) on the other hand, hasn’t come close to making that amount of extra income. And it’s nearly 10 years old.
To be fair, I started this website as a hobby blog and kept it that way for the first few years. I only started to monetize it by accident and made a whole $72 that year.
But other bloggers made making extra money online look so easy.
After years of taking different courses and trying different ways to make money blogging, I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. My motivation and levels of success were all over the place. I thought about giving up more times than I can count.
I was at one of these crossroads less than a year ago when it was time to decide once and for all. Am I finally going to try to turn this into an actual profitable small business? Keep it as a “hobby” that I sometimes get paid for? Or give it up completely?
I chose to make the commitment! And soon after joined the Money Mix Insiders, a blogging Mastermind group, which is where I “met” Daniella. Before it went live, I offered to be a beta-tester for her brand new course.
Who Should Take This Course
The Launch Your Side Hustle course focuses on starting a side hustle or small business. So if you are a beginner looking for ways to make extra money from your skills, this course will walk you through everything you need.
But as I mentioned, even as an existing side-hustler, there was a lot of valuable and helpful information in the course.
So if you are struggling with your side hustle or small business at all and feel like there’s gotta be a better way to make more money, the course will help you figure it out.
And Who Shouldn’t
There are two types of people that this course isn’t really for:
- Anyone who is already making extra money with their successful side hustle or small business.
- Anyone who is happy to keep their hobbies just as hobbies.
If either of these apply to you, you will still learn from the course, but there are probably better things for you to invest your money in.
What if I Live Outside of the USA?
One of the top selling features of the Launch Your Side Hustle course is that it includes information about filing your taxes and keeping your side hustle legal – from an actual lawyer and accountant. This is critical for all businesses to know and follow, even if the business is just you.
You don’t want to get sued or audited, do you?
Although the information included in the course is U.S. based, do not skip these sections!! Seriously! There is a lot that you need to know as a business owner, even if the specifics don’t necessarily apply to you.
A lot of side hustles are done online. There’s a very good chance you will conduct business with people or companies that are in the USA. (90% of my partnerships and clients are!) So even if you are not in the states yourself, you may have to follow certain U.S. laws and provide the right tax information.
And if you have a website or social media accounts, you have to comply with those legal requirements no matter where you live. (Such as accessibility, privacy, copyright, disclosures, and spam laws.) There is great information in this course on how to make sure you and your business are protected online.
It’s not a bad idea to consult with a lawyer, accountant, and/or business advisor on your own to make sure you are complying, regardless. Especially as your business grows.
If you are in Canada like I am, Jessica Moorhouse has some great information on self-employment taxes that compliments this part of the course perfectly.
What the Course Includes
Daniella doesn’t just throw together things you could easily search online for yourself and then leave you to piece it all together. It’s clear that she genuinely wants others to learn from her and her mistakes when it comes to starting a new side hustle business. She’s included a lot of herself in the course which is really refreshing and reassuring.
This course is thorough!
It starts right at the very beginning for those of you that want to start a side hustle, but aren’t sure what to choose. Or what will actually earn extra income.
It walks you through how to start finding clients or customers and the different ways to make money and earn your first $1,000.
As mentioned, there’s critical information on the legalities and financial aspects that you cannot overlook or avoid as a business owner.
And it covers what to do next so that you can continue to make another $1,000 (and then another and another, etc.).
It includes a combination of templates, worksheets, activities, videos, and expert advice that you can act on. Including the actual pitch used to get featured on a major website (that has a DA of 91!), and the option to add 1-on-1 coaching sessions with Daniella.
I mean, look at some of what’s included in the workbook alone!
When you sign up for the online course, you get lifetime access to its content and any future updates. So as your business grows, you can refer back to it whenever you need a refresher or new idea.
I can’t tell you how long it will take you to “complete” the course. Partially because of its useful reference material, and partially because you should stop and take your time to do the work. Implement what you learn right away, as you learn it. It’s self-paced and always open, so there is no need to rush through it!
What I Learned from the Course
As my side hustle was launched years ago, I honestly wasn’t sure if the actual content of the course was going to be right for me or not. I just wanted to help a fellow blogger out and thought that my attention to detail would help catch any typos or broken links.
But I learned a lot!
I was not anticipating the course to be as thorough as it is!
There were many things that I wish I had known or considered much sooner. Things that I should have been doing all along to make money online.
Identifying my audience and their needs (from Module 2) and the marketing strategies (from Module 6) were of particular help to me.
For example: I implemented ONE social media strategy from one of the lessons ONCE and immediately saw an 80% increase in engagement!
You better believe I’m going to try out everything else the course suggests now, too.
Is Launch Your Side Hustle Worth It?
Is investing $97 in yourself worth it to you? Can you afford it right now?
If your answer is yes, then so is mine! The knowledge and resources included in the Launch Your Side Hustle course is truly worth your money and your time.
Almost all side hustles will have start-up costs. You’re going to have to spend at least some money on things like tools, inventory, a website, or marketing. (Which is also discussed in the course.)
Why not invest a little into educating yourself to ensure you’re setting yourself up for success right from the start?
There is a refund policy if you’re unsatisfied. (Terms and conditions apply.)
If the cost of the course is a barrier for you, check out the articles on I Like to Dabble. You can get a lot of great information and resources there, too for free!
