From Fitbits to apps that track everything from your heart rate to your calorie intake, there is a general consensus that being fit and staying active is the way to live. However, many women have a hard time getting in the exercise they need on a daily basis. For women, between work, social obligations, kids, housework, and cooking, it can be easy to forgo the gym for just one day, then the next thing you know you haven’t been to the fitness center for the last month. In this post, you’ll find a few activities to help you stay active all day, fun activities at that, so that you get your exercise no matter how busy you might be.

Ride Bikes with Your Family

There’s nothing like a bike ride in the evenings to shave off those calories you took in at dinner. Put on your favorite pair of women’s bike shorts, pull the bikes out of the garage and make riding with the family once a day a habit. You’ll be having family time and staying active while getting all of you out in the fresh air to boot.

Walk More

There are plenty of gizmos and gadgets out there that can track how much you’re walking per day. This is also another area where you can multitask and still get your exercise. Walking more makes sure you’re staying active and you don’t even realize it. Count your steps at work, while shopping, and on the go, then take a walk with the family after dinner to finish out your goal for the day. Walking more can easily be seen as multitasking at its finest.

Stand Up While You Work

This one, of course, is according to where you work. If you’re allowed to stand and work at the same time, then do it! There are stand up desks that you can purchase now, where your computer and other things are conveniently at your level. Standing for an entire workday can help you gain strength and endurance in your legs, and you’ll be active as well.

Adopt a Dog

The adoption of a new pet, especially a dog, has been known to lead to an increase in activity in the dog’s owner’s life. Having a dog will give you another reason to get out and about and be active. Fido will need to be walked at least twice a day, taken to the dog park and every dog loves to chase a ball or stick or even catch a frisbee thrown by its owner. It’s important to realize, however, that a dog is a very big commitment and quite an experience. If you decide to adopt a dog, make sure you have the time to spend with it and know it’s looking for a forever home, not just something temporary. Make sure you’re willing to commit to your furry friend before making that commitment.

Clean Your House

This is the perfect way to stay active because it’s something you do every day anyway. Deep cleaning such as doing windows, mopping, and other activities can burn quite a few calories and help you stay active and fit as well. You can even burn 85 calories per hour with light house cleaning. Can you imagine how many calories you’ll burn during a deep clean?

These are just a few of the top ways you can stay active and be a multi-tasker at the same time. You don’t have to go to the gym twice a week to be fit, just do the activities above, and you’ll be good to go!
